Harmony & The Lady Grizzlies Show Out

Many people don’t know that Mauro-Sheridan has a girls’ basketball team. We have had a team for two years! There are 18 girls on the team, and the coach is Jason Cartwright! He’s a boy, by the way.

Questions for Jason Cartwright:

What’s the hardest thing that young players have to do?

Six different schools have to come together to become a team so the hardest is working together with people from other schools. (The schools are Davis, Katherine Brennan, King Robinson, Wexler Grant and Clemente and Mauro-Sheridan).

How do you motivate your players?

Some people self-motivate. It’s a miracle we have such good players.

Let’s talk to the team captain Harmony Thomas. Harmony said her whole family plays the sport and we think that her awesome basketball genes are fantastic and impressive.

Harmony loves her team now, but when she was little she used to play with Barbie dolls until she started to play basketball. She loves citizenship, and citizenship is the theme of our school at this moment.

She thinks of being a basketball player for the WNBA. If it doesn’t work out, then she will be a basketball coach to teach little kids.

Harmony is 13 years old and a really bold and a strong team captain for varsity basketball. She plays point guard and loves trophies and the attention she gets from the crowds. But she also says that when she is angry, she plays basketball to soothe her stress and to calm herself down.

Her coaches are Mr. Cartwright and Mr. Johnson. Harmony is very proud of her team.
