The Swedish singing sensation and pop star, Tove Lo is known to discover ways to push her boundaries within the realm of mainstream culture. Most of her songs are crafted with a precision of Max Martinesque and she offsets them with the high pop sheen infused with unapologetic, dark and honest lyrics pertaining to self-destruction, sex and even drugs.
Recently, Tove decided to try something new and she launched her new jewellery line. This new jewellery line is another example of how she combines her raw sensibility with something that is refined and makes a perfection concoction. She started this collection in collaboration with designer and her long-time friend, Emelie Torling. She is quite popular for crafting boots as well as jewellery. Her collection is called Leontine and it is both strong willed along with delicate and is infused with the distinct sensibilities of both Torling and Lo.
Their Leontine collection includes gold bracelets, cuffs and rings and their prices range from 25 dollars to 70 dollars. It is inspired by the symbol of Wood Lady which is the ocver art of Tove Lo’s second album which has the same name. The symbol is yonic and has an open shape with a cross right at the bottom. This collaboration is going to take Lady Wood outside the context of music and make it an icon in fashion industry also.
Lo said that she really wanted to eternalize the symbol of Lady Wood. She also said that ever since Emelie started designing pieces of jewellery, she has started wearing them and together they share a great deal of their lives with one another, thus this decision to start a jewellery line of their own felt just the right thing to do.
Torling said that she wanted the Leontine collection to embody a unique, strong and bold outlook and this quite an appropriate description of Lo also. She also stated that she has always created all her designs by keeping independent and strong women in her mind who choose to go their own way and not follow the usual trends. She is extremely happy to work with Tove as she is her muse, inspiration and her best friend.
