A few months ago, Android P was much in the news and now its first developer preview is out. As this has beenbuilt very early, the chances are more that many changes will be on the way. This preview has made it clear that Google is bringing the new launches in more colorful direction.
In May, Android P’s next developer preview can be expected to come and hence users will get an opportunity to witness additional changes to it. However, in this initial release, here is all that you will find:
Settings Menu: More Colorful
With every update, Google is reworking the settings and engrossing with constant changes in the settings screen. This time, you will see more colorful icons in it viz. icons of display, network, battery and all. The layout is not much different, but the icons have become little more colorful than before.
More Straightforward Settings
Google has done lots of changes in this area. Round off corners, encircled all icons of settings like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi with a colored accent when the user will enable it otherwise remain gray, and many similar features will be seen now. The horizontal bar down the icons has also been put nearer than earlier.
Clock Moved to Left from Right for Notch-Friendly Notifications
Now, in the top status bar of Android P, clock has shifted to the left side from far right. The notifications will be displayed next to the time as the new OS has been optimized for the notches, which may cut into the display area. After putting down the notification tray, a single dot will appear, which symbolizes that there are more things to see.
On home screen, a cloudy background will appear in dock, which makes it standout from everything else you find in your mobile. Dock is basically an area where Google search bar andfavorite apps of user are present. With the unique appearance of dock, it’s easy to reach app switcher. Inside the search bar, to the right side, a microphone icon is also available for one tap access to Google Assistant and voice search.
Easy Screenshot with Power Menu
Now the option of screenshot will be available in pop-up of restart/power off. So, if you are facing a problem with capturing a screenshot with normal button combo, then you can capture by just holding down power pop-up.
Now, the volume slider can move to right and shrink as well. However, more work is required to make things straightforward in this aspect as arrow icons may confuse the users.
